Fundamentals of Computing

What is Computer?
Computer is an electronic device designed in such a way that it accepts the input, stores them, processes them and provide the desired output.

Basic Operations of a Computer

The Computer has the following basic operations

Input - It is the process of obtaining the information from the user in the form of data.

Process - It is the process of transforming the information received into the desired output.

Output - It is the process of providing the processed output to the user.

Storing - It is the process of saving the information and instructions into the memory.

Controlling - It is the process of directing the data from input to memory and memory to output.

Characteristics of Computer

Speed - Computer can process millions of instructions per second.

Accuracy - Computer performs any given task with 100% accuracy rate.

Diligence - Millions of jobs or calculations can be completed by a computer with the same consistency and accuracy. It doesn't sense any fatigue or loss of attention. It is also superior to humans in terms of memory.

Reliability - Computer has higher reliability because it has high accuracy and speed.

Versatility - The ability of a computer to carry out many tasks with the same level of accuracy and effectiveness is referred to as versatility.

Storage - Computers have high storage capability, even if the primary memory is full we can use secondary storage and we can also use external storage devices.
